Alan Phillip Clark

AIA, NCARB, LEED Green Associate, Partner

Alan is a sixth-generation Georgian who continues his family’s commitment to quality construction dating back more than a century.

His architectural body of work includes significant experience in residential, commercial, and hospitality design as a project architect with award-winning firms in Atlanta and Dallas, Texas. Not beholden to one method or pattern of design, Alan believes that good architecture represents a response to a set of challenges that satisfy the client’s needs, budget and taste.

As a project architect with Summerour and Associates Architects, Alan’s roster of design projects included the renovation of the historic Old Edwards Inn and Spa in Highlands, NC, a new golf clubhouse and spa building on Hampton Island, Georgia, master planning for the City of Owls Head, Florida, and numerous custom residences in Georgia, South Carolina, Florida, Texas, and North Carolina.

Previously, Alan worked with a large commercial firm in Dallas, where his design projects included a new elementary school building, as well as large commercial multi-function buildings for telecommunications clients (AT+T, and GTE), and designs for major automobile dealerships buildings (AutoNation USA, and Chief Auto).

He received his Bachelor of Arts in History from Texas Christian University (TCU) and a Master of Architecture from the University of Texas at Arlington. While in graduate school Alan earned a scholarship to study in Rome, Italy, where he focused his studies on the history of Rome and its Baroque church structures. He continues to travel through Europe and the Far East finding inspiration for his design work.

Alan and his wife, Wendie, have two young boys and have lived in the Winnona Park neighborhood of Decatur for over 10 years.
